Best Mexican food I’ve ever had! The queso is an absolute must! I told the waiter to bring me anything and he brought me chicken enchiladas with queso and a fried egg. The chips are good and the green salsa was my favorite. The service here is fantastic. The food is to die for. Don’t hesitate. This place is a must! Highly recommended!

I've wanted to try L&J for years, just never could find the time to stop in. All I can say is I waited too long! It's a very cute, historic place. The food is DELICIOUS! I love my TexMex and while this does have the red chile influence of New Mexico, the enchilada sauce was the best I've found in this area! And, their green chile salsa is addicting! Definitely will be going back!

Incredible Mexican food. We ordered the queso and shrimp tostadas as appetizers. The queso has poblano peppers mixed in (I think) and was delicious. The tostadas were also amazing, just a tad spicy FYI. There are 4 on the plate but 3 were eaten before we had a chance to take the picture 😋. For the meal we had the chicken mole and steak tampiquena. Great flavor on both, which were also just a tad spicy. We finished with flan and sopapillas, the latter of which were my favorite. Again, no pictures on those because they were eaten so fast. Our server Leo was fantastic. The atmosphere was genuine. We got to a table in 15 minutes on a Tueday evening, but it can be pretty packed on the weekends. Pictures of signed headshots of famous people who have eaten there. Pretty sure Lando Calrissian was one of them...

If you’re in the El Paso area or just passing thru it’s right off the I-10, this is a must stop at place. Delicious food, relaxing atmosphere. There a bar if you like to drink and watch the games and plenty of tables if you like a more casual experience. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but you’ll be missing out if you pass up the opportunity to eat here.

Reddit let us know about this place as I was passing through El Paso on a cross country road trip and it did not disappoint! Best Mexican rice I’ve ever had in my life. Incredible flavors and such a historic spot with great vibes and friendly service. I got shrimp fajitas and I’m lactose intolerant/dairy free and they were easily able to accommodate, lots of vegan and vegetarian options too. My partner got steak enchiladas and loved it. Giant portions! So satisfying, 10/10 no notes.

Excellent service, best we've had in El Paso...to be honest, est weve ever had, even overseas. 10x better than the usual El Paso service. Thank you Jazmine. Located by Concordia Cemetery, save time and park on Yandell and walk the 2 blocks. You'll need the exercise after you eat. The salsas are good, the green one is super good, the rich, smooth red one takes literally 5 seconds to kick in, so be careful. The chili con queso was the best we've had, the tacos desebrada are (pretty sure) the best I've had for 20 years here in El Paso. Here's the thing. It's a small place and it's really good. It's super crowded, like Japan crowded. There can be a wait. Forget parking nearby, just take the walk from Yandell. Take the time, look at the photos on the walls, read the history on the menu, and I heard that the margaritas aren't bad. Afterwards, cut through the cemetery and watch out for ghosts.

First time going in here for lunch. Parking is kind of a hassle, had to wait 5-10mins. The restaurant has nice vibes. I ordered their Mexican Combination which was amazing for its price. Everything was very flavorful and tasted fresh. Their service was good, prices are very reasonable, and you get complimentary fresh tortilla chips. My coworker ordered burrito and it was great too. A worth it place to check out. Would Recommend. 8/10.

I am so glad a friend recommended the Detour Bar (which does NOT have food) because it is right around the corner from this gem! To start, the red salsa was so fantastic I over ate on chips, put what was left over on my flauta plate and bought a jar to take home. The beef flautas were well-stuffed, served with sour cream and guac and the came came with great beans and rice. My friend had the mole cheese enchiladas and she said she was still thinking about the mole on our drive back to Albuquerque. The place was packed on a Sat afternoon, so it has the stamp of approval from locals, which is a better review than I could ever give. It's tucked away over in a neighborhood and worth every minute to track it down!

If I had to recommend just one restaurant in El Paso, it would definitely be L&J Cafe. Even on weekdays, there’s often a wait during lunch hours, but if you’re lucky, you may be able to grab a seat at the bar right away. The complimentary tortilla chips are incredibly good, and the staff keeps them coming. The bartenders also pour a fantastic beer. Be sure to try the Caldo de Res—it’s absolutely worth ordering. As popular as this place is, finding parking can be a bit challenging, especially during peak hours. But once you taste the food, you’ll understand why it’s so busy.

We went to L & J while visiting El Paso. They were busy. They said 25 mins wait time, but they called us in 10 mins. We had the Mole Chicken Enchiladas, the Steak Tacos, and Chips, salsa & guacamole. Everything was very good. The mole was perfect. The Steak tacos were tender and very good. The chips and salsa came with 3 different salsa. Kudos to Edgar, our server!! He was awesome, super nice, and professional. Thank you for your hard work L & J and your team.
